The Place Where I Live
Susan Hancock
Pop Up Gallery | 7 August - 30 August 2026
I simplify subjects to express an idea or a feeling through abstraction. I prefer to achieve meaning through simplification rather than detail.
For this exhibition, the place where I live becomes house, garden, city, bird and bush.
The City Buildings triptych was painted on fine flat gesso board. I masked areas for a flat finish, then sealed and varnished the surface.
The Residence Quadriptych was painted using washes and layered acrylics to build the buildings. My other works were painted in acrylic, working up from dark bases.
These are not records of places. They are the feeling of living here.
